CTRM to Collaborate with Aerotech Design Consultants
Langkawi, 3 December 2009: Composites Technology Research Malaysia Sdn Bhd (CTRM) signed an agreement with Aerotech Design Consultants based in the UK and MIGHT to set up a Joint Venture (JV) company, Aerotech Design Malaysia Sdn Bhd. The new JV Company will be providing total engineering solutions to Aerospace and Non-Aerospace industry
According to Datuk Rosdi Mahmud, Chief Executive Officer, CTRM, the focus of this JV will be the provision of total engineering Solutions, which will cover tooling, engineering design, stress analysis, manufacturing engineering, modification, repair and services of composites in manufacturing sector.
He adds that this could lead to a potential spin-off service such as reverse engineering and metrology, which will be of interest to MRO organisations.
These companies have their strengths and advantages, which will complement each other, for CTRM, it needs a strong and reliable engineering company within its group of companies to support its current business activities, not only in aero structures, but also in other business sectors. The existence of the new JV Company will support other subsidiaries’ needs in engineering solutions to fulfil the current demands and for future growth.
Aerotech Design Consultants provides the expertise and skills for CTRM to realise this venture. MIGHT involvement in the JV Company will promote the acquisition of skills, technology and developing Malaysian competency in engineering design, in order to achieve the highest customer approval and third party certifications, such as Airbus UK Part 4 approval and EASA Part 2 certification.
Aerotech Design Malaysia Sdn Bhd is expected to start its operations in the first quarter of 2010.
At the signing ceremony, En Nor Azham Baharin, acting Head of Company, CTRM Aero Composites, represents CTRM, Aerotech Design Consultants was represented by its Technical Director, Mr David Blackmore and MIGHT is represented by its Chief Executive Officer, En Mohd Yusof. The YAB Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Muhyiddin Yassin, witnessed the ceremony.
